The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is cheap, often leaving little incentive to more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually risen the price of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one business is benefiting from the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
